Last saturday the winners of the photo contest Light organized by the Limburg Landscape Foundation were invited to a workshop in and around the farm Stockxhof at estate Landgoed Exaten in Horn (Leudal). After the introduction with a cup of coffee and delicious piece of cake we discussed one photo of each participant. Then it was time to explore and photograph the beautiful nature around the farm. After several weeks of hard work I am glad to announce that my new website is online :).

I was not happy anymore with the standard portfolio website offered by 500px.com and decided to create my own website. Besides the regular information about photos, categories and tags I also wanted to give some background information about the national park, nature reserve and/or city where I shot the photos. We had to wait long this winter but finally there is a tiny layer of snow. Last evening and night the landscape got a touch of white. Because it is not likely we get some more snow this winter I had to get up early. Because of the minimal amount of snow the choice was easy: the hilly riverdune area in nature reserve Bergerheide. For a forest or densely overgrown area there was just too little snow.

The plan was to shoot a full moonrise over the bridge at lake Reindersmeer with at the same time a sunset behind me. The date and time (december 24, 2015 around 4pm) was already in my calendar for months: Full moonrise 99% @ Reindersmeer bridge 15 min before sunset

National Park De Maasduinen consists of different nature reserves which are managed by foundation Limburgs Landschap, the municipality of Bergen, the Forestry Service and private individuals who all work closely together to keep this unique area in top condition. Bergerheide close to the village Nieuw-Bergen is one of these nature reserves which has a varied landscape with riverdunes, small and big fens, heathland, forests, agriculture land and the beautiful lake Reindersmeer.
